My name is Sierra Grucella and I am a student at Mililani High School. I worked over the last few months with a small team of students from my AP Environmental Science class to study the health of our coral reefs at Ali'i Beach Park. It is important to monitor the health of our coral reefs to ensure the survival of species within that ecosystem. Coral reefs are very fragile ecosystems that provide a number of different ecosystem services and the loss of those benefits would be detrimental to society.
The preferred future that I envision is one that has beautiful, healthy coral reefs that are thriving and have communities working together to keep those reefs healthy.
